Christmas Eve ...

The Village Christmas Eve service will start at 6 pm.  Mulled wine will be served and children are invited to come dressed as characters from the nativity story.

to the Village Hall Committee for putting on the Village Christmas Carol Concert on Sunday evening ...



and a special thank you to Sue Hayes and her Forte Band for their wonderful playing!

Just a reminder that this coming Sunday (18th December) there will be a service in Church at 9 am.  Everyone is welcome and there will be an activity table for the children and refreshments for all after the service.

Also, if you enjoy singing carols, the Village Hall Committee are organising carol singing around the Village starting at 5 pm at The Pin.  Mulled wine and mince pies will be provided afterwards!

Bourton Christmas Carol Concert

Take a break from the Christmas preparations this Sunday (11th December) and bring your friends and families to the Village Hall for a singalong to your favourite Christmas carols and songs. Mince pies and mulled wine will be served on arrival to help lubricate your vocal cords. Music will be provided by the Forte Band and Ensemble and there will also be a festive raffle. Proceedings start at 4.00pm.

Church Autumn Clean Up

Bonfire Night ...

Villagers are invited to Bonfire Night at Pinewood School.  The bonfire will be lit at 6 pm and fireworks at 6.15 pm.  Villagers are invited in free.  Please be aware that there will be increased traffic in the Village.

Early notice of the Christmas Fair ...

Pinewood's Christmas Fair will take place on Saturday, 3 December.  Please note there will be extra traffic in Bourton that morning.

Dog walkers ...

The school are happy that walkers use the paths through the plantation and there are kissing-gates and special dog gates for this purpose.  Please keep dogs on a lead if you take a short cut along the drive and do not let your dog roam on the playing fields.  Thank you.

November clean-up at Church ...

If you have a couple of hours to spare on Saturday, 12 November, please come along to Bourton Church (10 am - 12 noon) to help clear cobwebs and brush and tidy up the grounds!

Halloween and Christmas at Bourton Club ...

Posters will be appearing shortly but just to let you all know, there will be a Halloween Party at Bourton Club with live music from The Squirrels on Saturday 29th October @ 8pm - fancy dress, prizes for the best dressed adult and child! Raffle, meat draw and chilli and hot dogs! Fun for all the family!
And also New Years Eve! ... 
Live music from Beth Humphries and her band, Beth is a former resident of Bourton! And appeared at Glastonbury this year! Families welcome, tickets available from Bourton Club!

Ride and Stride

Congratulations to Bourton's intrepid Striders, who braved the torrential rain on Saturday 10th September to cycle and walk to raise money for St James' Church. Thank you to Maggie, Simon and Carolyn and to all those who kindly sponsored them. Between them they raised a fantastic £340, half of which will go to our village church.

Joint church service with Pinewood School ...

This Saturday (1 October 2016) starting at 10 am the Village and Pinewood School will share the Church Service.  If you haven't yet been to one of these shared services, please do come along.  It's great to have the Church full and to hear the lovely voices of the young students.

Sadly ...

Margaret McIntyre passed away recently.  A thanksgiving service will be held for Margaret at Shrivenham Methodist Church on Wednesday, 24 August at 1.30 pm followed by tea at Bourton Village Hall.  Pinewood School have kindly offered the use of their car park.

Pinewood School seeks to appoint a Cleaner & Dining Room Assistant to join our Domestic team working 40 hours per week all year round.
Pinewood School is set in 84 acres of rolling countryside on the border between Wiltshire and Oxfordshire, just outside Swindon, and offers a quality, family-based, co-educational day and boarding environment for over 400 children aged 3-13.
Salary:  £7.41 per hour (£15,408 per annum)

With an extensive renovation and expansion of the Kitchen and Servery area due to take place in 2017 this is an exciting time to join the Catering team.  There are opportunities to bring fresh ideas and innovation to the menus both for the daily food provided to pupils and staff and also for the regular hospitality events which the school hosts.
Hours to be worked during term-time (approximately 34 weeks per year):

27 hours per week
Normal hours of work:  9am – 2pm Monday to Friday
Remaining 2 hours per week to be used for occasional evening and weekend work as required.

Attendance at Staff InSet training days (approximately 5 per year) will also be required.

Salary: £8.67 per hour depending on experience and qualifications

Crafting at the Club ...



Last night was the first meeting of Bourton Craft Group held at Bourton Club.  A very enjoyable couple of hours was spent sewing, knitting and chatting with tea, coffee, cake and wine for some!  

The group plan to meet every first Wednesday of the month - 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm.  If you are a crafter of any kind, why not come along and join the group?   Or if you fancy learning a new skill, why not come along - there will be plenty of advice on hand!  Lisa even had some small beginners crochet kits available! 

Next meeting - Wednesday, 6 July at 7.30 pm at Bourton Club!

Things are going well at Church ...

and the monthly Sunday Family services are set to continue!  Bourton will now have two services per month - the first Saturday at 10 am and third Sunday at 9 am!

Our next service will be this coming Sunday, 15th May at 9 am.  This will be a Family Communion service with refreshments afterwards.

If you would like to get involved with running these services - reading, handing out books, helping with the refreshments, even a bit of cleaning - please come along and sign up.  A list/rota will be available in Church shortly.
